Asian Broccoli Saute is the perfect, healthy side dish to any meal! It is packed full of flavor and can be ready in just 15 minutes!
Well, the time has finally come. Time for me to go home. This was the last creation I made before taking the long trek back home from Naples this past Tuesday.
It really has been a whirlwind six weeks. My journey started in Reno, continued onto Naples, took a break in Paris, and went back home to Annapolis. If you tally up just the amount of miles I flew alone, not including the numerous driving trips I took over the past six weeks, I traveled a total of 15,460 miles. Phew, that is a lot! Thank goodness for cash back rewards on my credit card!
It was kind of a bittersweet moment. On the one hand, I was excited to come home to have my mobility back, to see my family, pets and friends, and enjoy Maryland. On the other hand, I had to say goodbye to someone very important to me for four months. Saying goodbye never gets any easier. We both thought it would be better since we had done it before and we would see each other again after a few months. But it was just as hard as when I left after my vacation in October.
Now that I’m back it is weird getting used to being here again. No longer being in the city, I’m now surrounded by trees that have their bright green leaves of spring. I also need to readjust to having American products and television whenever I want it. I’m slowly getting there but it is still a transition nonetheless.
Fortunately, it has been getting nice and warm both in Maryland and in Italy. Warmer weather calls for lighter dishes packed with fresh ingredients. That was the inspiration for this dish- Asian Broccoli Saute.
This dish is so easy to put together and so tasty! It mixes up what can be a boring side and makes it one everyone will want. The Asian garlic sauce is very thin and absorbs beautifully into the broccoli florets. The broccoli then is nice and soft with a slight salty bite accented by a hint of red pepper flakes and sweet garlic.
It is the perfect side dish to all of my spring and summer dishes! This Asian Broccoli Saute is surely one not to miss!
- 4 tbs sesame oil
- 4 cups frozen broccoli
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 tsps reduced sodium soy sauce
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- Pour oil in a skillet on medium heat. Place broccoli in pan and saute until broccoli is thawed, about 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, prepare the garlic sauce. Combine garlic, soy sauce and red pepper flakes in a bowl. Pour sauce into skillet and cook until garlic softens and broccoli is heated throughout and warm, about 5 minutes.
- Serve warm.
