Happy New Years!
Did you end up making a New Years Resolution?
I don’t usually like making resolutions, I feel like there is too much pressure around it. But, I do believe in hope and in wanting to improve yourself in the future.
In my last post of 2016 I mentioned some things I wanted to do for my blog. One of them was to work on being more social. So, in that spirit I have set out to amp up my Pinterest game. I’ve gotten a pin scheduler app that will help me pin more and to pin at optimal times. I’ve got a one year membership so I need to stick through it for a year now! You should follow me and see all the great content I’ll be pinning =)
And since it is the New Year, and so many of you are probably trying to eat healthier, I’ve decided to post healthy, and of course easy, recipes to get you started.
First up is the most important meal of the day, breakfast.
This Peanut Butter Banana Oatmeal Smoothie is great because it is full of goodness and full of stuff to keep you full. (Can I say full one more time in that sentence?)
Anyways, this smoothie is made up of oatmeal, peanut butter, bananas, milk, and cinnamon. It is a thick smoothie with a slight sweetness and full of that amazing banana flavor. Plus it is also really easy to make which is perfect for mornings when I’m feeling lazy (which is most mornings).
And since I know resolutions are hard, here’s something I do. Make grocery lists and stick to them. It’s so much easier for me to avoid the chip aisle than to have a bag of chips sitting in the pantry calling my name. Also, go to the grocery store full so you are less tempted to wander off into the junk food aisles!
Cheers to the New Year and happy cooking!
- 1 cup skim milk (or almond milk)
- ⅓ cup quick oats
- 2 bananas (preferably frozen), sliced
- 2 tbs smooth peanut butter
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down sides once to get anything stuck to the sides. Pour in two glasses and serve.
